Chef Dan

Hello everyone and thanks for stopping by our new food site.  First off,  I’m Chef Dan and being a fat kid means I have a love for good food.  Besides,  wouldn’t you trust a fat chef if you saw one in the kitchen?  I know I would!

I first really took up a love for food while I was a kid growing up helping my mother in the kitchen whenever she needed an extra set of hands because my dad is a cook-a-phobest.  I just made that up and I’m going to say that means my dad is afraid of cooking.  He ate the same breakfast for 50 years….2 slightly overcooked eggs, 4 of the most crispy, crunchiest pieces of bacon ever and,  of course,  his black,  black,  syrupy coffee.  I can still envision the smell of the house at 5 a.m. as he “slaved” over a hot stove.  Luckily for him, and me as well, he married the most brilliant German woman to ever grace a kitchen.  My mother.

After being spoiled for the first 18 years of life by good old fashioned home cooked meals,  I found myself living in Austin without the benefit of mom or her leftovers.  So what’s a boy to do other than spend all his money on restaurants and drive thru’s?  Learn to cook of course!  So after stealing a few of mom’s recipes and putting them to good use,  I started to play around on my own and discovered that I can cook too.

Now even if you think you can’t cook,  try these recipes out on your own and I guarantee that you will not only amaze yourself but maybe a special someone too.  So from our table to yours,  go with your gut, think on your stomach and fill your belly!!

Mageirocophobia, believe it or not, means “Fear of Cooking”

My partner and I absolutely love your blog and find a lot of your post’s to be what precisely I’m looking for. Does one offer guest writers to write content for yourself? I wouldn’t mind creating a post or elaborating on many of the subjects you write in relation to here. Again, awesome web site!
